This upbeat program celebrates the long-neglected patriotic role of nurses in healing not just individuals, but America as a whole, in tending its wounded from the Revolutionary War through great strides in the Civil War to the present. We celebrate the coming of the Army and Navy Nurse Corps, and the American Red Cross, with new generations of nurses going wherever the soldiers went, putting themselves at rish for disease, attach and capture. We also celebrate the tireless peacetime work and volunteer spirit of nurses who have contributed so much to the betterment of American healthcare.
